Kemaria Avery

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I want to be a Clinical Psychologist due to my love of its versatility as well as my deep interest in science dealing with the brain and its effects on behavior. I love how Neuropsychology is a blend of psychology and neurology. Pursuing a career in Clinical Neuropsychology is the best of both worlds for me because I get to be exposed to the neuroanatomy of the brain, learn of the functionality of brain structures, and most importantly how the disruption, for example, illness or injuries, affects the behaviors that are displayed.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?
I am most excited to build relationships with clients and assist in the greatest capacity possible.

What do you do for fun?
I love to cook and I enjoy spending time with my friends from my cohort.

What is a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me would have to be that I love Zydeco music and enjoy watching others dance the Zydeco.

Destynee Blank

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut. However, I moved to Memphis, Tennessee when I was 16-years- lived there for 7 years.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
One of the main reasons why I wish to be a psychologist is because I wish to spread awareness about mental health adversities that one may face and be of some assistance to individuals that live in impoverished neighborhoods with mental health disorders. Being able to provide empirical information and resources to someone who does not have the means to receive some resources and answers on their mental health challenges is critical when thinking about strengthening our mental health system and reaching more individuals that may need professional help.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?
Something that I’m most excited to contribute to the CBH this year is my willingness to experience new and different opportunities. More specifically, willing to take on the challenge of trying new things that I may not be initially comfortable with.

What do you like to do for fun?
Something that I love to do for fun is travel and read thriller/horror books.

What is a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is that my favorite animal is an elephant.

Casie Cullinane

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a small town about an hour outside of St. Louis, Missouri and moved her to Louisville for graduate school!

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
With my trajectory of becoming a forensic psychologist in mind – I want to be a psychologist so that I can contribute as an unbiased party to what is oftentimes such a challenging point of people’s lives. This career will help me to show/remind those I work with that they have a voice, as well as empower them to make whatever positive change they see fit for their lives.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?
I am exicited to bring my training and skills together to work with clients of all different backgrounds here at CBH!

What do you like to do for fun?
In my free time I love hanging out with my dog Obi and taking him to parks! I also enjoy spending time with family and hiking.

What is a fun fact about you?
I was a pole vaulter for 10 years!

Brittney Day

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a small town called Granger, Indiana which is close to South Bend, Indiana.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I first wanted to be a psychologist when I was a volunteer at a crisis line that helped survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. While working on the crisis line, I realized that many of these individuals were not able to receive services or support from many sites or locations due to many barriers such as a low SES, transportation issues or lack of support especially if they were involved in the criminal justice system.  From this moment I knew that I wanted to help individuals in vulnerable populations get the adequate services they needed and provide empathetic support to all individuals.

What are you most excited to contribute to CCC this practicum year?
I am most excited for the opportunity to conduct various assessments while working at the CBH in order to help individuals and families get the clarity they need regarding their concerns. I am also excited to contribute some of the experience I gained while working on the crisis line to engage with in depth conversations about trauma/traumatic experiences that a person could have faced and the effects that has on that individual’s mental health.

What do you like to do for fun?
I like to watch tv, either food shows like MasterChef or drama shows such as 90-day fiancé, I love to travel (my favorite place has been Colorado), I put together 1000-piece puzzles and love to hang out with my friends.

What is a fun fact about you?
I went skydiving while I was in Arizona when I was 18!

Emily Froming

Where did you grow up?
I’m from hot and humid Houston, Texas!

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
Mental health has had a stigma attached to it for the longest time, and I want to help make psychology more normalized and accessible for everyone. I think the human mind is super interesting, and I love being able to help people better understand what’s happening in their mind.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?
I’m excited to begin to help real people, and work alongside them to find a path forward that works best for them.

What do you like to do for fun?
I love cuddling with my dog, Sweet Tea, doing some embroidery, consuming cheesy TV shows/movies/books, and spending time with my friends!

What is a fun fact about you?
If you show me a frame from any movie in the Twilight saga, there’s like a 98% chance that I can tell you which movie it comes from (and probably what’s happening in the scene).

Keisha Johnson

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Bardstown, Kentucky.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
My passion and personal experience of mental health drives my aspiration to pursue a career as a psychologist. As a psychologist, I am dedicated to using my skills and expertise to raise awareness about mental health within our community. Also, by providing education and advocating for mental health issues, my goal is to offer valuable support to those in need and help individuals navigate their emotional and psychological challenges. My personal and past formative experiences with mental health have given me a strong sense of empathy and understanding, and it’s this empathy and understanding that motivates me to offer support to those who have faced or are facing similar emotional and mental health challenges. Additionally, an important goal of mine is to actively work towards reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and to promote an environment where open discussions about mental well-being are normalized and encouraged. Furthermore, I am committed to increasing mental health resources and improving mental health access, with a specific focus on addressing the mental health needs of marginalized Black, brown, and low-income communities.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?
I’m most excited to contribute to CBH the skills, knowledge, and experience I gained working with individuals with severe mental illnesses in inpatient settings, as well as my ideas and passion for mental health. Since CBH specifically addresses the needs of diverse communities and operates through a culturally focused lens, I am also proud to be a part of the effort to expand the diversity of clinicians at CBH, contributing to a more diverse and inclusive environment. Furthermore, I am deeply honored to serve as a representative factor and advocate for all Black, brown, and diverse clients accessing our services, ensuring that inclusivity and cultural sensitivity are at the forefront of my treatment approach.

What do you like to do for fun?
Some of the things I do for fun are spending time with friends and family, catching up on shows or watching a new movie on Netflix, trying out new restaurants or new local spots, doing a little retail therapy of course, and the most fun of all is traveling and experiencing different parts of the world!

What is a fun fact about you?
One fun fact about me is since I love to travel, I have a goal of visiting all 50 states, and so far, I have been to 20 states out of 50!

Alyssa Lombardo

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I decided to become a psychologist so I can help people through discomforting times and past trauma.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?
I am most excited to work with my clients and help them focus on important values in their lives. I want to contribute kindness and positivity to those I meet.

What do you do for fun?
For fun, I love to go on walks, listen to audiobooks, and hike.

What is a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is I will pick up almost any craft or hobby. I recently learned how to crochet and embroider!

Katie Mapes


Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I want to be a psychologist because I love to see people grow and overcome the struggles in their lives.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?
I am interested in working with individuals with severe mental illnesses, and I am excited to continue to work with these clients at the CBH!

What do you do for fun?
My favorite things to do in my free time are knitting, crocheting, and petting my cats.

What is a fun fact about you?
The bones in my pinkie fingers are crooked.

Jack McPadden

Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Massachusetts, before moving to Louisville to attend Spalding University’s Clinical Psy.D. program.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I am passionate about expanding access to psychological assessment and therapy in communities where these services are often unavailable. I also hold interests in collaborating with educators, medical professionals, and others to ensure that each person receives the highest quality of coordinated services.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?
I am most excited to bring my experience of working in diverse communities to CBH, where I have the opportunity to continue providing culturally responsive care.

What do you do for fun?
Outside of clinical work and school, I enjoy walking, hiking, cooking, and writing.

What is a fun fact about you?
I love dogs and have enjoyed volunteering for dog rescue organizations.

Dasheralle Moore

Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Louisville, KY.

Why do you want to be a counselor?
I want to be a therapist because I want to be apart of the world that is helping people.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?
I am excited to contribute my personality, background, and knowledge that will benefit at least one person a day!

What do you do for fun?
I love hanging out with family and friends for fun.

What is a fun fact about you?
I love putting together looks, even if I’m not going anywhere.

Makayla Simon

Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Louisville. L1C4! I graduated from the prestigious Central High School. I received my bachelor’s degree at Northern Kentucky University.

Why do you want to be a counselor?
I feel like counseling chose me. I became the family member/ friend that people could open up too. I always had a sense of empathy when listening to others and wanting to help them through the hard times. As I got older, I became interested in knowing how to effectively counsel someone. This journey of becoming a counselor has brought on a lot of self-awareness and a new love for being a supportive counselor to my clients.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?
I am excited to contribute my humor and the ability to allow my clients to have a safe place to explore all the parts of themselves without judgement.

What do you do for fun?
My nephew and I enjoy recording pranks on each other. I attend a Buti Yoga class and ITS SOO MUCH FUN!

What is a fun fact about you?
I love 70s -90’s R&B, classical and jazz music. In the car I like to think that I am singing better than the artist LOL!

Kathleen Willingham

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in upstate South Carolina, right outside of Greenville in the small town of Fountain Inn.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I want to be a psychologist because I am passionate about providing necessary mental health resources in order to promote social justice. Eventually, I want to work in the forensic assessment field to ensure that the field of psychology is used accurately and appropriately in these settings while also highlighting the importance of mental health awareness across all settings.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?
I am most excited to contribute to the CBH all of the education I have received so far in combination with my passion for social justice and women’s mental health to provide an overall safe space for clients to vent, learn, and grow.

What do you do for fun?
For fun, I enjoy catching up with family and friends, reading, watching football, and listening to podcasts. During most of my free time, you can find me hanging out with my black cat, Sir, named after the Carolina Panthers!

What is a fun fact about you?
I am a classically trained dancer of 19 years, and I was on the Wofford College dance team. Go Terriers!

Heather Woodie

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Georgetown, KY which neighbors Lexington, KY. Go Cats!

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I am pursuing a career in psychology because I am fascinated in the “why” of both people and the world. I have always enjoyed exploring reasons behind communication, emotions, and behavior. Moreover, I am interested in holding a supportive role for individuals seeking care. I recognize the power of being a voice of encouragement, reason, and empathy and strive to support all clients in the pursuit of their goals. In my previous work, I have been deeply moved by assisting clients make changes in their life and serving as a source of comfort.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?
I am most excited to bring my fun, light-hearted nature to CBH this year. Growing up as a little sister, I have always tried to make others laugh and bring positivity to all spaces!

What do you do for fun?
My hobbies include playing with my two cats (Jimmy & Cowboy),  listening to Taylor Swift music, helping care for local stray cats, and following true crime!

What is a fun fact about you?
I absolutely love decorating for and celebrating all holidays! You will notice my outfits and belongings decked out for all the holidays to come!

Rachel Archer

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, which is a suburb north of Washington, D.C.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I want to be a psychologist because I believe that through individualized psychological interventions, even the most hopeless individuals can achieve happiness and improve their mental health. There is nothing more rewarding than helping others find happiness and peace, and potentially changing their lives for the better.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?
I am thrilled to continue to provide services to the Louisville community! My hope is that my experience and training allows me to provide quality care to those who need it the most and assist individuals with improving their quality of life and self-understanding.

What do you like to do for fun?
One of my favorite things to do for fun is enjoy the outdoors via camping, hiking, kayaking, and biking. However, as much as I love exploring new places and being in nature, I also love spending time at home with my partner and two dogs, Odin and Nikki.

What is a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me would be that I am a classically trained pianist and opera singer, and I also dabble in songwriting when I feel inspired.

Rajiv Chaku

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in the Mid-Michigan area.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
It gives me the opportunity to use my training to help people and offer support during difficult times. I hope to bring greater awareness about mental health issues.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?
I hope to bring an open-minded perspective and am most excited to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy traveling, going to museums, and reading about many different topics.

What is a fun fact about you?
I won a bowling tournament in 5th grade.

Brynn Greene

Where did you grow up?

I am a proud Kentuckian and grew up in Hopkinsville!

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

I want to be a psychologist because I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to heal and live a life that is fulfilling and meaningful to them. If someone can be an unbiased listening ear, teach coping skills, and provide a safe and compassionate environment for someone who is struggling, inner transformation can occur. I hope to be that person to my current and future clients. I have always been passionate about mental health, so the opportunity to learn, serve, and eventually earn the title of “psychologist” is a dream come true.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?
I am most excited to contribute my passion for compassionate and comprehensive care in my assessments at the CBH!

What do you like to do for fun?

I am a self-proclaimed “hobby collector, ” meaning I dabble in a little bit of everything, especially if it is creative. I enjoy pottery, knitting, painting, writing, reading fiction, hiking, and watching various movies and television shows. I also spend time advocating for bipartisan gun violence prevention and mental health access.

What is a fun fact about you?
I worked as a Fairy Godmother in Training at Walt Disney World for six months through the Disney College Program! Even though the magic looks a little different now, I still try to incorporate skills I developed, especially around kindness and inner beauty, into everything I do!

Bekah Lipski

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Wentzville, Missouri which is just 40 minutes outside of St. Louis.

Why do you want to be a counselor?
While I was in undergrad at Bellarmine University, I had a therapist that really impacted my life and helped me through a tough time in my life. I wanted to become a therapist so that I could do the same for other people.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?
I am really excited to contribute my knowledge coming from a Clinical Mental Health Counseling perspective.

What do you do for fun?
I love to paint, listen to music, watch movies, do puzzles, and bake in my free time.

What is a fun fact about you?
I currently have a 1-year-old lab named Minerva and a 3-year-old guinea pig named Popcorn.

Sydney Moore

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in small town Michigan but spent two separate years living in Florida. Moving is a hard transition but played a formative role in who I am today!

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I’ve chosen to become a psychologist because I have a passion for being a support to people who have not had and are in need of support. I hope to serve populations that often are overlooked or even looked down upon in our society. I believe everyone deserves help and support.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?
I am excited to bring an approach to CBH which both challenges my clients but also offers a safe space for them to process trials, triumphs, and times which may even be a mix of both!

What do you do for fun?
For fun I enjoy playing golf, walking my dog, spending time outdoors, and simply relaxing.

What is a fun fact about you?
One fun fact about me is I have a “New Girl” quote for every situation!

Katherine "Katie" Barry

Where did you grow up?
I grew up outside of Boston, Massachusetts before moving to North Carolina when I was 12 years old.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I want to be a psychologist because of my own experiences with mental health professionals as an adolescent, and I have found my purpose in sitting with those who have experienced trauma, hardship, and other life experiences. It’s an honor to work with people in this way and witness their growth, in and out of the therapy space!

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?
I am most excited to contribute my sense of humor and tendency to think “outside the box” with clients and colleagues at the CBH.

What do you like to do for fun?
For fun, I like to read on my Kindle, watch reality TV, and spend time with loved ones.

What is a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is that I have been to more countries outside the US than states in the US! I love to travel.

Gabrielle Eismann

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Columbus, Ohio, but I have lived in Kentucky for almost 10 years.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I love supporting and empowering people to find strength in life’s challenges and healing from past events.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?
I’m excited to be at JCTC to offer my support to students who need some additional tools to be successful in their college goals and beyond.

What do you do for fun?
In my spare time I love cooking, baking, and playing video games, or watching an embarrassing amount of TV.

What is a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is I have a secret talent for unintentionally making animal-shaped loaves of bread. So far, I have made several cat-shaped loaves and a rotisserie chicken-shaped loaf. I have no idea how it happens, but it’s always a surprise!

Austin Knox

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Northern Kentucky.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I previously worked at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center with a variety of children and adolescents from all walks of life. The hardships, confusion, and suffering of which I saw in my patients showed me that we need more in this field that are willing to go further for the next generations. Since that moment I have dedicated myself to furthering my knowledge in the field of psychology to provide relief to those in need. “Suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds meaning”- Victor Frankl.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?
I am most looking forward to being able to provide relief for those who are struggling. Being able to be in there in all their worst moments and in the moments in which we celebrate their triumphs.

What do you do for fun?
For fun I love playing musical instruments. I write and play often. I enjoy being outside in nature and hiking. I love sports and playing them every chance, I can get. Most importantly, I enjoy getting to spend time with my family and friends.

What is a fun fact about you?
I am a big Kentucky Wildcats fan.

Max Ronyak

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in a suburb close to Denver, Colorado

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
By becoming a psychologist, I hope to aid people through the many difficult events and processes of life that bring discomfort and distress.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?
I am excited to bring some energy and lightheartedness to the CBH this year.

What do you like to do for fun?
For fun, I love to spend time with my family, watch football and basketball, and play video games.

What is a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me is that I was adopted when I was 10 years old.

Franklin Senger

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Greater Cincinnati.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I want to become a psychologist to help bring meaningful and culturally competent care to underserved communities.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?
I am most excited to bring my previous practicum experience working with adolescents and adults, as well as my previous professional experience working as a first responder.

What do you like to do for fun?
For fun I enjoy going on trail runs with my dog, camping on the weekends, and playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends.

What is a fun fact about you?
I have run several marathons.
