Rachel Archer

Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland, which is a suburb north of Washington, D.C.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?
I want to be a psychologist because I believe that through individualized psychological interventions, even the most hopeless individuals can achieve happiness and improve their mental health. There is nothing more rewarding than helping others find happiness and peace, and potentially changing their lives for the better.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?

I look forward to contributing not only my experience from Spalding University but also my optimism and fresh perspective to the CBH team.

What do you like to do for fun?

One of my favorite things to do for fun is enjoy the outdoors via camping, hiking, kayaking, and biking. However, as much as I love exploring new places and being in nature, I also love spending time at home with my partner and two dogs, Odin and Nikki.

What is a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about me would be that I am a classically trained pianist and opera singer, and I also dabble in songwriting when I feel inspired.

Samantha Goodwin

Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in Louisville.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

I decided to become a psychologist so that I can help others heal from past harms and live the most meaningful and fulfilling life possible.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?

I am most excited to bring a new perspective and open mind to the CBH this academic year.

What do you like to do for fun?

For fun, I spend time with my children and husband outdoors and a fun fact about me is that we have many pets, including two dogs, a bearded dragon, and four hermit crabs.

 

Max Ronyak

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in a suburb close to Denver, Colorado

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

By becoming a psychologist, I hope to aid people through the many difficult events and processes of life that bring discomfort and distress.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?

I am excited to bring some energy and lightheartedness to the CBH this year.

What do you like to do for fun?

For fun, I love to spend time with my family, watch football and basketball, and play video games.

What is a fun fact about you?

A fun fact about me is that I was adopted when I was 10 years old.

Rebekah Cook

Where did you grow up?

I’ve called Louisville home my entire life but hope to one day relocate to California.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

I want to be a forensic psychologist to show compassion to people who don’t often receive understanding. The community at Spalding has helped me remember that sometimes good people make bad choices, and that doesn’t make them any less deserving of compassion.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?

I believe healthy attachment styles could solve most, if not all of the world’s problems. This allows me to bring a unique perspective to my work with clients and helps diversify the theoretical approaches at the CBH.

What do you like to do for fun?

I love hanging out with my dog, listening to podcasts, trying brand new recipes, and being around loved ones.
What is a fun fact about you?

A fun fact about me is I graduated high school in 3 years and college in 3.5 which makes me the youngest person in my cohort.

Avish Waghray

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Hyderabad, India

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

After learning about the Asch’s classic conformity line test in high school, I became fascinated with psychology and human behavior. I developed a passion for helping people, and chose the clinical psychology route as it offers a unique way to tackle difficulties people may face. Through the use of assessment and therapy, I hope to help people understand their concerns and provide them a safe place to unpack them. On the neuropsychology tract, I hope to eventually better understand the challenges for those with neurological injuries, and the best way to assist them

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?

I hope to use my unique experiences to help those within the Kentucky community. In addition, I hope to break the stigma around mental health care.

What do you like to do for fun?

I am a huge sports fan and usually spend time with friends watching various games and playing soccer.

What is a fun fact about you?
I’m a huge Miami Heat fan!

Brynn Greene

Where did you grow up?

I am a proud Kentuckian and grew up in Hopkinsville!

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

I want to be a psychologist because I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to heal and live a life that is fulfilling and meaningful to them. If someone can be an unbiased listening ear, teach coping skills, and provide a safe and compassionate environment for someone who is struggling, inner transformation can occur. I hope to be that person to my current and future clients. I have always been passionate about mental health, so the opportunity to learn, serve, and eventually earn the title of “psychologist” is a dream come true.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?

I look forward to combining what I have learned from my previous experiences with the knowledge gained through my time at CBH. I also hope to contribute genuine curiosity, positivity, and resiliency during this experience.

What do you like to do for fun?

I am a self-proclaimed “hobby collector, ” meaning I dabble in a little bit of everything, especially if it is creative. I enjoy pottery, knitting, painting, writing, reading fiction, hiking, and watching various movies and television shows. I also spend time advocating for bipartisan gun violence prevention and mental health access.

What is a fun fact about you?

I worked as a Fairy Godmother in Training at Walt Disney World for six months through the Disney College Program! Even though the magic looks a little different now, I still try to incorporate skills I developed, especially around kindness and inner beauty, into everything I do!

Natalie Phillips

Where did you grow up?

    I was born and raised in Seattle, WA; but also spent a lot of time growing up in Bend, OR.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

    I wanted to be a psychologist when I started taking psychology classes in undergrad. I found the material so interesting and knew the work would always be rewarding as I would be serving others.

What are you most excited to contribute to CCC this practicum year?

    I am looking forward to conducting my assessments as CBH this year as a returning member of the team!

What do you like to do for fun?

    For fun, I like to take my dog on long hikes, play volleyball at Baxter Jacks with friends, and explore Louisville.

What is a fun fact about you?

    A fun fact about me is that I am a diehard Seahawks fan…a forever member of the 12s!!

​Adorya Baly

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in the Virgin Islands.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

I hail from a place where mental illness is stigmatized, though it affects us all. I desire to become a psychologist to serve minority populations and assist with policy-making since one’s mental health is just as important as their physical health. My aim is to serve others by advocating and helping them cope with mental health challenges.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?

I’m excited about providing services to individuals who have roots beyond America, and I’m looking forward to serving individuals who have had restricted access to mental health care. I’m hoping to learn more about Dr. Kniffley’s Racial Trauma Model and how it applies and helps to meet the needs of each individual.

What do you like to do for fun?

I would describe myself as adventurous. I love Top Golf, hiking, dining out, traveling, pageantry, and watching Netflix. I love spending time with my family and friends as well.

What is a fun fact about you?

I rode a camel in Senegal, Africa.

Rajiv Chaku

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in the Mid-Michigan area.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

It gives me the opportunity to use my training to help people and offer support during difficult times. I hope to bring greater awareness about mental health issues.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this practicum year?

I hope to bring an open-minded perspective and am most excited to work with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

What do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy traveling, going to museums, and reading about many different topics.

What is a fun fact about you?

I won a bowling tournament in 5th grade.

Cassandra Bako

Where did you grow up?

I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri. Both of my parents are immigrants from Poland though, so I am extremely proud of my Polish heritage!

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

A huge value that I hold personally is being able to make and invest in relationships. I always knew that I wanted to be in a healing profession and psychology has given me a way to do that while living out my values. I love being an integral part of individual’s healing process and getting to be with them every step of the way. My clinical interest is integrating faith (specifically Christianity and Catholicism) into therapeutic practices when applicable. I love working with individuals from all backgrounds and getting to hear their personal stories in order to see how I can best serve them.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?

I am most excited to contribute my skills of faith integration when applicable and prior experience with working with college students to CBH. I have also worked in a wide range of settings with various clinical presentations. I am excited to contribute my knowledge and experience working with young adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and interpersonal issues.

What do you do for fun?

My favorite hobbies include hiking, sailing, and playing tennis.

What is a fun fact about you?

I have a dual citizenship and can speak Polish fluently.

Sydney Moore

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in small town Michigan but spent two separate years living in Florida. Moving is a hard transition but played a formative role in who I am today!

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

I’ve chosen to become a psychologist because I have a passion for being a support to people who have not had and are in need of support. I hope to serve populations that often are overlooked or even looked down upon in our society. I believe everyone deserves help and support.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?

I am excited to bring an approach to CBH which both challenges my clients but also offers a safe space for them to process trials, triumphs, and times which may even be a mix of both!

What do you do for fun?

For fun I enjoy playing golf, walking my dog, spending time outdoors, and simply relaxing.

What is a fun fact about you?

One fun fact about me is I have a “New Girl” quote for every situation!

Vanessa Lamoretti


Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in Great Neck, New York.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

I grew up wanting to be a medical doctor, but realized it was the human side of medicine I was attracted to. The more I learned about Psychology and Healing, the clearer I my career goals became. I have always loved working with, connecting with, and learning from people. I value growth, advocacy, and teaching, which are all opportunities afforded to psychologists!

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?

I’m excited to contribute my efforts and determination to expand the reach of CBH at JCTC. I hope to create new opportunities, programming, and connections between the two campuses!

What do you do for fun?

I spend my free time playing with my dog, Thor, doing yoga, working on puzzles, and spending time with my partner, friends, and family. I love exploring new restaurants and areas around Louisville!

What is a fun fact about you?

I like to use the word “Chicken” as a term of endearment!

Yancy Nesbitt

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Hampton, Virginia

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

Black mental health is an area I’m passionate about. As a clinician in training, I’m interested in providing therapeutic services for the members of the Black community.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?

I’m excited to use this last year of practicum to integrate the skills I’ve acquired throughout my training.

What do you do for fun?

During my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, reading, and going to pilates classes.

What is a fun fact about you?

I was born in Okinawa, Japan!

Lilly Kramer


Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Crestwood, KY

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

I want to be a psychologist because I am interested in helping individuals others overcome struggles and difficulties in they may be facing in life, especially when it comes to children and adolescents. I want individuals to feel respected and heard. This is such a rewarding field, and I enjoy connecting with others.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?

I am excited to contribute a genuine desire to help and listen to the struggles that an individual may be facing. I believe I bring a caring and respectful attitude to the CBH.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy reading, working out, crocheting, and playing with my pets in my free time!

What is a fun fact about you?

I have pet geckos, and they are really fun and cute!!

Oliver MacKie

Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. But have spent 4 years of my life in West Lafayette, Indiana completing my undergraduate degree in psychology at Purdue University, and now I have spent the past year in the Louisville area.

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

I want to become a psychologist because growing up and still to this day I have enjoyed trying to understand how other people think and why they behave the way they do. Becoming a psychologist will allow me to better understand my fellow human beings as well as to help them along the way.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?

I am most excited to contribute my time and energy to help my clients grow and succeed in aspects of life they value.

What do you do for fun?

For fun, I enjoy spending time with my friends, working out/ going for a run, meditating, and cooking new types of food.

What is a fun fact about you?

One fun fact about me is that I use to do Tae Kwon Do and have my second-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Also, I spent 8 years playing rugby and played at both the high school and college level.

Antonio Feria Osorio

Where did you grow up?

I’m originally from Cuba, grew up here in Louisville

Why do you want to be a counselor?

I want to be a counselor because I want to have a positive impact on people’s lives

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?

Bringing an empathetic and caring perspective.

What do you do for fun?

I play video games and read books, mostly fantasy and romance

What is a fun fact about you?

I have been to 12 countries

Chris Barker

Where did you grow up?

I grew up here in Louisville

Why do you want to be a counselor?

I want to be a counselor because I was inspired by my high school psychology teacher. I also love talking to people and counseling gives me a very rewarding feeling when I help and talk to others.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?

I am most excited to learn about CBH and bring my experience from practicum.

What do you do for fun?

For fun I hang out with my friends, play video games, and listen to music, specifically Taylor Swift.

What is a fun fact about you?

A fun fact about me is I was born in Russia and lived there for 9 months before getting adopted and coming to The States.

Akira Isaac

Where did you grow up?

I grew up on the beautiful twin island of Trinidad and Tobago!

Why do you want to be a psychologist?

I want to be a psychologist because I am passionate about mental health, research, and working with children and adolescents. I hope to foster healing and growth by creating safe spaces where children and their parents/caregivers feel respected, heard and understood.

What are you most excited to contribute to CBH this year?

I am eager to serve, connect with, educate and learn from the BIPOC community in Louisville through the CCC.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy brunch, baking, arts and crafts (e.g., painting, basket-making), video calls with my nephews and sharing time with my loved ones.

What is a fun fact about you?

I played volleyball for many years and was a member of Trinidad and Tobago’s national volleyball team while I was in high school.
