Why do you want to be a psychologist?

I have been interested in psychology ever since I found one of my mom’s old psychology textbooks on our bookshelf when I was about 12 or 13 years old. I found the little information that I could understand at the time fascinating and began picking my parent’s brains about what I could do when I grew up that involved this subject. A psychiatrist was one of them, and that path was my initial plan; However, as I got older, I realized I did not want to go to medical school and mainly prescribe medication. I discovered that becoming a clinical psychologist, who engages in therapy and psychological assessment, was what I really wanted to do- so, here I am!
